REVIEW AT DIGBETH, BIRMINGHAM 02 INSTITUTE OF

Joy as an Act of Resistance Idles
Joy as an Act of Resistance by Idles is one of those albums that would put a smile on Johnny Rotten’s face. You can really tell that Idles are trying to bring back Punk Rock into mainstream and damn are they doing well. With Joe Talbot’s pulsating throat burning voice and a guitar and drums that are so loud that it will blow your socks off, Idles is a must listen for all you punk rockers out there.
The Black Keys electrifies us with their debut album the big come up. They caught people’s attention with the amount of sound they make mixing blues with rock. No one thought that sound would get them noticed, but oh boy did they prove them wrong. If this album is what you call setting the tone, then we are in for big things to come up.
The Big come up The Black Keys
Transformer Lou Reed
h After doing his self titled debut album Lou Reed was on a mission to better his first album in the same year, but only this time with the help of DAVID BOWIE!! a close friend of his. After velvet underground decided to separate, Reed wanted to reinvent himself as a solo artist and have a distinct sound instead of being compared to his predecessor’s The Velvet Underground. And that’s what he did, transformed himself and boosted his career as a solo artist, proving all the doubters wrong with a hit like “Walk on the wild side”
First impressions of Earth The Strokes
After two brilliant albums “is this it” and “room on fire”, the strokes introduce us with last impressions and their longest album yet with 14 SONGS!! What is there not to love. They pull us straight in with “you only live once” which is a brilliant song to start off an album and one that will be stuck in your head for weeks. Not any of the other songs are below an 8/10 and for the strokes to do 3 consecutive albums that are all brilliant and unique in their own way is something quite special.
Greatest Hits. The Who
The Who are one of the greatest rock bands to ever exist with 10 albums reaching the top ten. In a crowd of bands consisting of Led Zeppelin, ACDC and Black Sabbath some of the certified greats, The Who made themselves stand out in an arena of legends and joined that list as well. With ten albums reaching the top ten, it was only right for The Who to mix all their greatest hits into one album for fans to go mental on where an album is classed un skippable.

ORIGINS
Hello guys! My name is Hamish, the founder of this amazing, musically inspired magazine and website called Eclectic. I called the company after what my music taste is. Having an eclectic range of music comes with its positives, you can talk to anyone about music and you also get to be the one to make the playlist for the upcoming party, which is seen as one of the highest honours.
I created this company in 2024 because I wasn’t getting the enjoyment and recommendations of new music, which I was striving for when reading magazines. they just never seemed to grip me. So I was like, F this, i’m going to make a magazine which has the perfect balance of recommending new music to people and enticing them with fun facts and information about their favourite bands. That’s what I did.
